Feedback from presentation
After presenting my group’s presentation to the class, I reflected on what we had prepared and realised that I would like to give more detail on the areas of location, characters, sound and lighting. In our presentation, we had a couple of ideas about different locations we could use to shoot different scenes but needed to finalise our decisions. We originally thought of using a nearby Costa to shoot a part where the man is having a work meeting, but have now, looking back, have instead tried to contact other places like Barking Enterprise to trying and get an actual meeting room to film in. For characters, we have had a struggle to figure out what characters to have that we can actually get actors for, and what would work in practical reality. Another area we have decided to look more into is both sound and lighting. We have a solid idea of what type of sound and lighting we would like to have but have been unsure of what actual techniques to use to achieve our desired effect.
The audience, after hearing our presentation, identified cinematography, themes and narrative as the strengths of our idea relating specifically to our key sequence. In feedback, we were told that we had a strong idea of what cinematography style we wanted to have and that our idea of a symbolistic contrast between nature and technology was well presented. We also had the possible idea of using symbolic imagery as a kind of enigma code to contribute to the narrative of the sequence.
After the presentation, the audience identified a few areas of improvement such as the issue of location, shooting and characters. In our sequences, we need a variety of different location to help with the narrative, however, we not completely sure where we would shoot all of these scenes. Another issue was the problem of weather and location whilst shooting as the different types of weather greatly contribute to our symbolic reflection of the narrative. This meant that we had to shoot some shots in advance to make sure we had lots of different types of weather within our work. We were also advised to figure out who would act in our sequences quickly to make sure that we do not end up without any appropriate actors.
After all the feedback from our presentation, we have decided to finalise some locations we were unsure about and look more into what exact techniques and effects we can use to improve both the narrative and the cinematography of our sequences. We have now secured the actors for our piece and have altered the narrative slightly to fit this. We have also taken the weather into account for filming and have decided when to film what accordingly.
